Some recommendations for the teacher that will be administrating this assignment are the following:
- This assignment is intended for High School Advanced Placement Psychology students.
- The students will learn about psychological disorders, specifically the symptoms and the treatments. They will get a chance to work in groups and show leadership skills, along with learning how to work with others to complete a task.
- The skills that the students need to complete this assignment is to be able to read and write at a normal high school level. They need to be able to use the computer by surfing the web and use other basic computer skills that will allow them to find the information that is needed. They will need access to a television outside of class and access to the movie that they will be viewing.
- Students will need a total of two days of class time (about a hour per class period) in order to discuss with their group what topic they will present and find the symptoms and treatments of their psychological disorder. Also they will need to determine what movie they will show.
- Divide the groups up as evenly as possible, but try not to have a group that is any smaller than 3 students and no larger than 5 students.
- Allow 2 weeks for the students to complete the assignment, but do not allow too much class time, as some work must be completed outside of class.
- Work that is exceptional will have a skit that has props, possibly some type of costumes and the presentation is well organized and rehearsed. You can tell that the students have gone above and beyond and know their subject matter well when they are able to answer any questions that you may have for them about the disorder. They have also completed all the tasks that were assigned to them and have completed them all correctly.
- Work that is average, will show that the group has completed all the tasks that were asked of them. However, possibly the skit appears unorganized and not planned ahead of time. They stumble upon being asked questions and there are no props or costumes of any kind during the presentation. They read directly from their notes and did not seem to have grasped the concepts or learned the information that they were responsible for.
- Work that is below average, will be a group that did not complete all of the assignment. The skit is sloppy and does not contain all the information that is required. There were no props, no costumes and they have no enthusiasm towards the assignment. You noticed them procrastinating during class time, when they were suppose to be working on their project.
